Keylane launches Keylane Automate, bringing governed AI to the core of insurance and pensions

New AI-first cloud-native platform enables insurers and pension funds to design, deploy, and govern AI agents and workflows on top of the data in their core systems.

Keylane, a leading European technology partner to the insurance and pensions industry, today launched Keylane Automate, an innovative platform bringing governed AI into the core operations of insurance and pensions, readying the industry for whatever comes next, where trusted AI transforms how millions are served.

Keylane Automate enables organisations to design, test and deploy their own AI-powered agents and workflows, putting greater control over AI innovation in the hands of the teams running the business. Using a no-code environment, customers build AI into claims, underwriting, member communications and case handling themselves.

Built as a cloud-native, system-agnostic platform, Keylane Automate can operate across core administration platforms, including Keylane’s Axon for property and casualty insurance and Plexus for life and pensions, as well as with other systems within a customer’s technology environment. Customers retain control over the AI models they choose to deploy and can either leverage the prebuilt agents or build their own through the included developer SDK.

Powering Keylane Automate is the trusted data generated by the systems that already support insurers and pension providers across Europe daily. Keylane’s core platforms embed insurance and pensions-specific logic and currently support the administration of more than 37 million policies and pensions within the sovereign Keylane cloud.

Legacy technology usually decides how far AI can go. Automate removes that limit. It creates an intelligent orchestration layer across the systems already running regulated business at scale, so organisations can push AI as far as their ambition takes them while keeping control of the data, processes and decisions their operations depend on.

Governance is becoming increasingly important as the regulatory environment around AI develops. Since August 2026, AI systems used to price and assess risk in life and health insurance have been classified as high risk under EU law, increasing the need for insurers to demonstrate appropriate oversight, control and accountability as AI becomes more deeply embedded in core business processes.

Across insurance and pensions, the organisations that win the next decade will be the ones that settle claims faster, price risk better and answer members the moment life changes. It’s with AI that they will get there, and boards now realise this. The question is not whether to move, but how to move quickly without increasing regulatory, operational or reputational risk. AI inherits the quality of the data beneath it, and in this industry that data is usually the problem: fragmented, inconsistent, with no single version of the truth. Keylane is built the other way round. We pioneered the move to cloud and SaaS in this industry, and we are leading again on trusted AI tailored for insurance and pensions. A trusted foundation you can prove, the freedom to build on it, and a business that moves faster because of both.” John Reynders, Chief Executive Officer, Keylane

Everything within Keylane Automate is governed by design. Human in the loop oversight guides higher-risk decisions, and every decision remains fully auditable by the customer. Comprehensive audit trails provide the transparency regulators expect, with data hosted on European infrastructure and managed in line with European regulatory requirements.

This approach is underpinned by Keylane’s proven delivery experience. Keylane has completed more than 75 complex legacy migrations and, in 2026, was recognised by Celent as a Technology Standout in its report on property and casualty claims administration systems in EMEA.

“The best ideas in insurance and pensions come from the people running the business, yet they have always had to wait for someone else to build them. Automate removes that wait. Because it is deeply integrated into the same core platforms that hold their policy, claims and member data, teams can bring AI into any step of any process with the governed context an agent needs already in place. That is how good ideas make it into production instead of stalling as a demo.” Nelson Petracek, Chief Technology Officer, Keylane

Keylane Automate is being built with customers through a co-innovation programme that starts with their use cases rather than a Keylane roadmap. It is open to insurers and pension funds now at keylane.com/keylane-automate.

Keylane has today also published “Innovation Built on Trust“, a report on why the foundation, not the model, determines the value AI can deliver in insurance and pensions.
